Libby Dae Myung was started in 1982 by Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Lloyd. They started teaching classes at the community college in town and expanded from there.

After Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd left Libby in 1987, the school was taken over by Pat Haas and then in 1992 by Mr. Phil Spencer and Mr. Monte Wicka. Mr. Wicka retired and moved to Charlo, MT in 2004 and Mr. Dan Rose became Mr. Spencer's assistant instructor.
